About Children of Bragi
CHILDREN OF BRAGI was born when Alva, one of 3 singers of 'Stereo Screams', and Ryan Chiverton of 'Behind The Sound' foley studio (and local Platform One producer), banded together with their love of folk instruments, history, old literature, and Norse mythology, to create a studio project. Despite the Isle of Wight having some choice folklore (looking at you 'gooseberry wife'), the single 'Ritual' is inspired by historical stories, nordic folklore/poetry, and other fantastical legends- with our project art nodding towards the infamous arthurian tale of the Lady of The Lake.
As Children of Bragi, my wish is that I may form connections with instrumentalists across the industry, I hope to breathe new life into the sagas of old in order to keep them alive for generations to come.
Who is Ljósálfar?
Ljósálfar is simply my artist name, one designed to draw the right people in- though some of you may also know me as Elfie or 'Mother Wolf.'
It is well known that I love nature, that I'm an avid fan of old norse folklore, the works of J.R.R Tolkien, and a person with a deep spiritual belief in nature. It stands to reason that I would have myself, and others, believe that I'm not a person but a creature beyond mortal mans comprehension.
One of my biggest inspirations for my general creativity is the 'alterhuman' community, a group of people who (involuntarily) identify as 'non-human' on some level or another. I found myself in this community when I was around 13 years old, struggling to feel like I belonged in "normal" society; here I met many people with the same experiences as myself, with incredible hobbies, a deep love of creativity, and above all a oneness with nature. From there, I began dabbling in graphic design (which somehow ended up with me designing album covers and merchandise), to expressing my complex, and often very misinterpreted, identity through songwriting. However, it wasn't until the last six months or so, that I found my 'pack' of friends. Over the last few months, my little group of online friends have nurtured my music and creativity- the same way a pack might nurture a pup- so I became 'Mother Wolf' and ode to my identity and the people who supported me in only the way kin can.
I hope some of you will find comfort in my words of late, and join me for these tales I write, drawn to me by fate.
